RDX Vulnerability Leads to $1.26M Theft, SEC Grants Conditional Innovation Exemption

A vulnerability in the RDX Engine was exploited, resulting in the theft of assets from third-party vaults and network transaction processing halts. Attackers utilized a flaw in the RDX Engine's vault ownership verification to withdraw bridge assets including Ethereum (ETH), WBTC, USDT, USDC, BNB, SOL, and XRD. The RDX Foundation reported on September 17 that it had blocked Hyperlane routes and offline converted some validator stakes to prevent further exploitation.

The U.S. SEC granted a five-year conditional innovation exemption for tokenized securities trading platforms (TSVs), allowing them to trade certain U.S. stocks under specific conditions in a regulated environment. The exemption includes automated market makers (AMMs) and liquidity pools, with limitations on the number of tradable assets and scale.

The dollar index rose 1.1% for the week, marking its largest increase in over three months. Bloomberg's Dollar Spot Index advanced 1.1%. The U.S. Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 0.25 percentage points to a target range of 3.75%-4.00% as of September 16, with an end-of-year federal funds rate forecast at 4.1%.

Binance reduced the collateral ratio for six tokens from 30% to 10%, effective September 18 at 3 p.m. KST for AUCTION, BLUR, GALA, HYPER, S, and SYRUP in cross-margin and portfolio margin accounts. Conversely, ARB, TAO, and WLD ratios increased from 50% to 60%. Coinbase plans to exclude 29 assets from eligible collateral starting September 29.

U.S. XRP spot ETFs saw a net outflow of $5.15 million on September 17, though monthly cumulative inflows remained at $192 million. Outflows concentrated in Maketo's 21Shares XRP ETF (TOXR) and Canary XRP ETF (XRPC), while total monthly inflows were reported at $192 million.

Binance will launch USDBRLUSDT forex perpetuals for trading U.S. dollar-Brazilian real exchange rates starting September 21 at 11 p.m. KST, supporting up to 100x leverage with no expiry.
