Revolut Faces Data Leak After Fake Government Request

British fintech Revolut has been reported to have received a ransom demand of 10,000 Bitcoin (BTC) following a data leak attack. Pinpointed by Finbold, attackers used leaked materials as leverage for the ransom. DoubleBit reported that Revolut received unauthorized requests posing as legitimate government domains, resulting in partial customer information being shared with third parties. Exposed data may include copies of ID documents, verification selfies, addresses, IBANs, account statements, and Bitcoin transaction histories. Revolut informed affected customers directly and notified relevant government agencies, law enforcement, and regulatory bodies. However, neither DoubleBit nor CryptoTimes mentioned the 10,000 BTC ransom amount in their reports.
