Revolut Suspected of Leaking User Data After Falling for Fake Government Request

Revolut, a fintech company, is suspected of leaking some users' personal identification information (PII) after falling for a fake government agency's data request. According to on-chain detective ZachXBT, hackers impersonated an official government email domain to request customer information. Revolut trusted the email verification and provided the data, which included names, addresses, ID copies, Bitcoin transaction history, and account details. Facial biometric data was not part of the leak. ZachXBT noted that victims were primarily high-net-worth cryptocurrency users. Revolut has sent security alerts to affected users and urged them to verify suspicious inquiries through official app channels.
