Revolut has clarified that it did not receive any direct monetary demands from attackers or hacking groups in connection with the data breach. Italian authorities are investigating how government agency email accounts were misused. Revolut told Reuters on the 16th that it had no direct contact with individuals or groups claiming to have carried out the attack, nor did it face extortion demands. Reuters reported that approximately 680 customer records were affected by this incident. The Italian prosecutor's office in Reggio Calabria has launched an investigation into the case involving requests for Revolut customer information using a government agency-verified email account, as reported by ANSA. Italian postal police are verifying whether the compromised account was breached or duplicated, with the National Anti-Mafia and Counter-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office also involved in the case. The incident has been notified to data protection authorities. Revolut confirmed that customer funds and core systems were unaffected. However, Italian investigative agencies are still examining further claims by the group asserting responsibility for the hack and whether the leaked information is being sold.
