Robinhood Employees Indicted for Trading on Insider Crypto Listing Information

The U.S. Southern District of New York Federal Prosecutors announced on May 15 that Robinhood ($HOOD) employees Hefu Chai and Huaisong Xiang were criminally charged with insider trading using the company's unannounced crypto listing information. Prosecutors stated the two individuals traded on Hyperliquid, earning over $50,000 (approximately 68 million KRW) each. The indictment claims they purchased perpetual futures of related tokens ahead of Robinhood's official announcements between 2025 and 2026 using non-public information. Charges include commodities fraud and wire fraud, one count each. Robinhood stated it prioritizes market integrity and does not tolerate insider trading, having directly investigated the matter before reporting to law enforcement and regulatory agencies while continuing cooperation with ongoing investigations.
