Robinhood Maintains AMC Stock Token Amid CEO Demand for Cessation

Robinhood ($HOOD) has stated it will continue to provide a stock token that tracks the price of AMC Entertainment ($AMC) shares, while AMC has demanded the product be discontinued. Adam Aron, CEO of AMC Entertainment, reportedly told CoinDesk on March 3 (local time) that he never approved Robinhood's AMC tokenized product. CoinDesk further reported on March 4 (local time) that Aron had urged Robinhood to halt trading of the AMC stock token and warned of legal action. Robinhood's chief legal officer disputed this, while Vlad Tenev, CEO of Robinhood, affirmed support for the stock token.
Roybinhood's official documents state that its 2026 launch 'Stock Tokens' are tokenized debt securities issued by Robinhood Assets, a subsidiary, and provide economic exposure to underlying stocks but do not grant legal or financial rights to those shares. Robinhood launched over 200 U.S. stock and ETF tokens called 'Classic Stock Tokens' for European Union customers in June 2025, initially issuing them on Arbitrum.
