Safe Foundation Proposes Safenet Aegis Support with $708K in SAFE Tokens

The Safe Foundation has proposed distributing around 7.4 million SAFE tokens from SafeDAO's financial treasury to support the transaction security network Safenet Aegis. If approved, these tokens would be utilized over a 12-month period for validator staking rewards and Sentinel node subsidies. The Safe Foundation unveiled the draft proposal on the SafeDAO forum on the 17th.

The total allocation amounts to approximately 740,000 SAFE tokens, valued at around $708,000 (approximately 978 million KRW). Of this, about 500,000 SAFE will be allocated for validator staking rewards, while 240,000 SAFE will support stepwise subsidies for six Sentinel nodes.

The proposal is still in discussion phase and requires approval through SafeDAO voting. The official Safe Foundation proposal describes Safenet Aegis as a decentralized security network that evaluates transactions on Safe accounts in real time. Sentinels analyze transactions to determine safety or risk, after which validators prove the results on-chain. Safenet Guard then verifies these proofs before allowing transaction execution.

The Safe Foundation positions Aegis as the first operational version following Safenet's beta phase. During beta, validators performed transaction checks; with Aegis, Sentinels handle the analysis while validators provide proof of results. The foundation explains that Safenet applies security at the transaction execution stage rather than merely issuing warnings.

According to draft Safenet documentation, six Sentinels—BlockSec, Hexens, Hacken, Intentguard, OpenCover, and Candide—are expected to participate in Aegis. The validator set will remain permissioned. The Safe Foundation also proposed integrating transaction inspection functionality into Safe Wallet and Safe Pro as an optional feature, limited to transactions on Ethereum Mainnet, Arbitrum, and Gnosis Chain.

Transaction inspection fees would be paid to Sentinels. The proposal states that token subsidies should support participant onboarding until a fee-based reward system becomes established. Sentinel subsidies require meeting predefined conditions such as transaction participation rates. Even after Aegis launches, the validator set will remain permissioned. SafeDAO can determine Sentinel-validator composition, fees, rewards, and slashing ratios through governance procedures.

The target timeline for Aegis mainnet integration with Safe Wallet is Q4 2026. Final implementation and specific allocation amounts depend on SafeDAO voting results.
