Senate Clarity Act Debate Concludes with Rejection

The U.S. Senate has rejected the Clarity Act, a comprehensive virtual asset (digital asset) bill, following the failure to achieve the necessary 60 votes for cloture.

Cloture is the procedural step requiring at least 60 affirmative votes to end a filibuster and proceed to a final vote on the legislation. On Thursday (KST), the Senate website showed that opposition votes exceeded 40, leading to the rejection of cloture.

Earlier, on Wednesday, Democrats presented an alternative bill in response to a Republican-led amendment to the Clarity Act, but Republican Senator Cynthia Lummis and others rejected the alternative proposal.
