'September Consolidation, October Breakout' Bitcoin $100K Scenario Emerge

Bitcoin could potentially rise above $100,000 again before the U.S. midterms, according to a forecast by cryptocurrency trader Will Mid. On October 18 (local time), media outlet U.Today reported that Mid noted Bitcoin's daily chart is forming a sustained bullish pattern.
Mid described the current chart structure as a textbook 'high and tight flag' pattern. He believes Bitcoin will consolidate for the remainder of September before breaking out in October.
For this forecast to materialize, Bitcoin would need to surge significantly within a relatively short timeframe. With the next U.S. federal election scheduled for November 3, 2026, Bitcoin would need to reach $100,000 within approximately six weeks.
As of CoinMarketCap data, Bitcoin is currently trading between $76,500 and $77,500. A climb to $100,000 would require substantial rebound from current levels.
Bitcoin's all-time high of $126,198 recorded on October 6, 2025, remains significantly above current prices, with the market trading approximately 39% below that peak.
Mid's forecast is based on technical analysis. The flag pattern typically indicates a sharp rise followed by price consolidation without a significant pullback.
Despite the Clarity failure, Bitcoin has maintained relatively limited movement in the mid-to-high $70,000 range. On October 17, it traded around $76,400 and remained near that level on October 18. Mid interprets this as a consolidation phase ahead of further upside rather than a bearish signal.
Seasonal trends also factor into this outlook. Within cryptocurrency trading circles, Bitcoin has historically shown strong momentum in October, leading traders to refer to the month as 'Uptober.' However, October alone does not guarantee an automatic price surge.
