Short-Term BTC Holders Move 23,200 BTC to Exchanges in Loss

Bitcoin (BTC) short-term holders increased their exchange inflows from approximately 19,400 BTC to 33,100 BTC, with 23,200 BTC moving into a loss position. This represents the largest short-term holder loss realization in the past month, according to U.Today, which noted that September saw the biggest instance of short-term holders realizing losses at exchange inflows.
While not all funds moved to exchanges were necessarily sold, Kraken received over 6,000 BTC and Binance over 10,000 BTC. Coinbase Advanced saw a 7,300 BTC inflow, which was relatively unremarkable compared to usual ranges. The movement is interpreted as short-term holders reducing risk exposure in response to price declines rather than mass selling by all holders.
The shift aligns with CryptoQuant data cited by U.Today. Short-term holders are defined as those who recently acquired Bitcoin. Moving holdings to exchanges below acquisition prices could indicate sell pressure, but may also reflect collateral setting or pending transactions. The decline was partly attributed to the U.S. Senate's rejection of H.R. 3633, a virtual asset market structure bill, which failed to secure the required three-fifths majority for cloture.
Bitcoin fell approximately 4% following the vote, dropping to $74,900 (about KRW 118.6 million), before trading between $75,000 and $76,000 but failing to sustain gains above $80,000 (about KRW 188 million). Market analysis highlighted the importance of recovering $78,000 (KRW 160.8 million) and breaking through the $80,000-$81,000 range as technical benchmarks.
Previous similar movements were noted in earlier reports, with this instance showing a loss movement of over 23,200 BTC compared to prior reports of over 32,000 BTC. The figures differ due to varying timeframes and methodologies. Market reactions varied: Strive CEO Matt Cole called the bill rejection negative for U.S. virtual asset markets but positive for Bitcoin; MicroStrategy's Michael Saylor posted that 'the only clarity Bitcoin needs is Bitcoin'; Ripple's Brad Garlinghouse described it as a 'painful outcome.' Social media discussions framed the result as reflecting regulatory uncertainty rather than structural issues with Bitcoin itself.
