S&P Global Acquires OpenZeppelin to Enhance On-Chain Risk Assessment

S&P Global has signed a deal to acquire smart contract security company OpenZeppelin. The transaction aims to expand S&P Global's on-chain technical risk assessment and ecosystem development capabilities in the digital asset market. In a press release issued on the 17th, S&P Global stated it will strengthen its on-chain security assessments, benchmarks, and market information based on OpenZeppelin's security evaluations and open-source smart contract libraries.

OpenZeppelin's contract library has supported value transfers worth $3.7 trillion (approximately 569 trillion won) and has handled over 900 security operations. S&P Global disclosed the details of the acquisition agreement, noting that OpenZeppelin will continue to operate as a separate business unit post-acquisition under CEO Demian Brener. The open-source contract library and applications will remain freely available and maintained. The transaction amount remains undisclosed, and closing conditions still apply.
