S&P Global Agrees to Acquire Blockchain Security Firm OpenZeppelin

S&P Global has agreed to acquire blockchain security company OpenZeppelin. In a statement released on the 17th, S&P Global said this acquisition would expand its ability to assess risks in on-chain finance and blockchain technology. The transaction is subject to closing conditions, with financial terms undisclosed. OpenZeppelin will operate as an independent business unit under its own name. Damian Brenner, CEO of OpenZeppelin, will continue leading the company while reporting to Yan Le Pallec, S&P Global Ratings president.
S&P Global also noted that OpenZeppelin's smart contract library, OpenZeppelin Contracts, has supported over $37 trillion in value transfers and executed more than 900 security operations.
