Spain Cryptocurrency Scams Result in Over 250 Victims and €760K Loss

Two cryptocurrency investment scams and money laundering cases were uncovered in Spain, resulting in more than 250 victims and damages amounting to around €760,000. Eurofpress reported that the Civil Guard arrested four individuals accused of running a fake broker Ponzi scheme, causing losses for 113 victims totaling approximately €327,000. Police are currently investigating these four suspects. In a separate case, Spanish police investigated an organization suspected of cyber fraud and money laundering, confirming 146 victim reports and arresting 44 individuals. ABC reported that the group impersonated bank employees and used phishing sites, converting funds obtained through such means into various cryptocurrencies to complicate tracking.
