Staking Rankings Show Mixed Performance as BNB Chain Defends Amid Market Decline

Top staking assets generally declined in market capitalization, though some large chains showed defensive strength. The temperature difference among assets persisted in long-term yield rates.

As of 11:52 a.m. on July 17, according to StakingRewards data, Ethereum remained the largest staked asset at $10.516 billion, down 1.02% from last week. Solana held second place with $43.7958 billion, declining 1.67% over the same period. Hyperliquid ranked third with $3.48726 billion, down 5.91%.

BNB Chain rose to $1.829061 billion, increasing by 0.48%, making it the only major asset where staked market capitalization grew. Tron held fifth place with $1.486198 billion, down 0.65% from last week.

Assets with the largest declines included BitTorrent (-9.68%) and Avalance (-8.95%).

The staking ratio relative to circulating supply was highest for Sui at 70.06%, followed by Solana (69.34%) and BitTorrent (64.90%). Cardano stood at 56.28%, Tron at 46.62%, and Hyperliquid at 46.29%.

Staking wallet counts were highest for Solana with 1.36 million, followed by Cardano (1.25 million) and Ethereum (0.8 million). Avalance saw an 11.92% weekly increase in wallets, while BitTorrent declined by 1.39%.

BNB Chain maintained the highest real reward rate at 5.97%, followed by Avalanche (3.46%), Tron (2.62%), Ethereum (1.74%), Solana (1.55%), and Cardano (0.62%). Sui recorded -1.03% and BitTorrent -5.48%.

Annualized reward estimates showed Ethereum leading at $271.831 million, followed by Solana ($264.827 million), Hyperliquid ($77.844 million), Tron ($47.977 million), and BNB Chain ($29.479 million).

Weekly annualized rewards decreased for most assets, though BNB Chain fell 65.48%, Avalanche dropped 9.71%, and Cardano declined 7.34%.

The staking annual return on investment (ROI) was highest for BitTorrent at 15.29%, followed by Avalanche (6.91%), Solana (5.99%), Tron (3.26%), BNB Chain (3.09%), Ethereum (2.83%), Cardano (2.27%), Hyperliquid (2.26%), and Sui (1.71%).

In the 365-day total ROI, which combines price movement with staking rewards, Hyperliquid led at 48.14%, followed by Tron at 0.97%. Other assets saw negative returns: Sui (-79.77%), Cardano (-77.25%), Avalanche (-73.22%), Solana (-55.50%), Ethereum (-44.93%), BitTorrent (-25.47%), and BNB Chain (-22.22%). Despite staking rewards, most assets experienced price declines over the past year.
