StarGate STG Conversion Indefinite as LayerZero V1 Relay Ends Dec. 15

StarGate (STG) has clarified that the December 15, 2026 date previously mentioned as a conversion deadline for ZRO is actually the official end date for LayerZero V1 relayer operations, not the termination of STG-to-ZRO conversion contracts. The official terms state that STG conversion agreements remain indefinite.
Crypto Briefing reported on September 15 that STG holders must convert to LayerZero (ZRO) by December 15, 2026, with StarGate trading transitioning to a Taxi model from October 1. However, the official StarGate conversion terms specify that the STG-to-ZRO exchange agreement is 'indefinite.' The conversion rate stands at 1 STG = 0.08634 ZRO, with STG tokens permanently burned upon conversion and no reversals allowed.
The December 15 date aligns with LayerZero's announcement on August 7 that it would discontinue support for LayerZero V1 (ULNv2) relayers by that date. Teams using ULNv2 must migrate to ULNv301 before then, or their messages may fail. However, this shutdown date does not equate to the STG conversion contract end date.
StarGate's Taxi and Bus transaction processing methods differ: Taxi handles single transactions immediately upon destination chain delivery, while Bus bundles multiple transactions for batch processing. The official StarGate documentation states that Taxi sends tokens to the destination chain at exchange time, whereas Bus processes transactions in batches with Taxi supporting composability through additional logic on the destination chain.
While Crypto Briefing reported a October 1 transition to Taxi-only trading, this date has not been confirmed in official documents. The StarGate official pool page indicates that V1 messaging is temporarily suspended and will reopen for withdrawals at the end of September, but does not mention restricting transactions to Taxi mode.
