Stellar Protocol 28 Vote Scheduled for September 17... RWA Tokenization Hits $3.22 Billion

The Stellar Development Foundation has set the voting time for Protocol 28 mainnet upgrade to September 17 at 2 AM (KST). Protocol 28 is an upgrade that improves consensus processing and smart contract development capabilities on the Stellar network. The foundation explained that CAP-83, which allows validators to vote before receiving the full transaction set, will help improve network throughput. CAP-85 enables upgrading multiple smart contracts simultaneously, while CAP-86 supports data structure changes and migration for Soroban smart contracts.

CryptoSlate reported using RWA.xyz data that the tokenized real-world asset value on the Stellar network has reached a record $322 million (approximately 4.4114 trillion won), marking the highest level ever recorded. However, the official Stellar developer documentation still lists Protocol 28 as testnet-only, so mainnet activation results are not yet confirmed in the official documents.
