T34M1 Team: Police Officers and Digital Asset Analysts Unite for SCAN 2026 Final

The world's first digital asset tracking competition 'SCAN 2026' final will take place at 9 AM on September 28th at Monaco Space in Seocho-gu, Seoul.

Organized to enhance digital asset cybersecurity and investigative capabilities, SCAN 2026 is hosted by digital asset information company DAsset with global blockchain data platform Chainalysis as a CTF (Capture The Flag) partner.

The final features the top 20 teams from an initial pool of 416 teams (754 participants). T34M1, one of the competing teams, consists of three active police officers and one private digital asset analyst.

Team members shared that their unique composition allows them to combine on-the-ground investigative experience with blockchain analysis expertise. The police officers have handled digital evidence and digital asset cases in real investigations, while the private analyst specializes in blockchain security, on-chain data analysis, AML (anti-money laundering), and fund flow tracking.

"Digital asset crime analysis requires more than just reading on-chain data," they explained. "It needs the ability to interpret evidence from a law enforcement perspective along with technical skills to track actual fund flows. We believe combining our experiences will lead to more practical problem-solving that can be applied in real investigations and crime response."

Regarding their advancement through the preliminary round, T34M1 expressed pride in competing against participants from multiple countries. They noted that while they did not view reaching the finals as the ultimate goal, it validated their approach and competitiveness.

The team also shared their analytical methodology: using blockchain explorers, public on-chain data, address labeling information, and RPC (Remote Procedure Call) to query transactions and event logs when necessary. They emphasized examining multiple factors beyond simple transaction paths, including timing, amounts, asset conversion processes, counterparties, bridge usage, and fund dispersion.

"We don't stop at 'addresses are connected,' but also examine why we made that determination, consider alternative possibilities, and ensure the evidence meets the standards required for real investigations," they stated. This focus on accuracy, reproducibility, and explainability sets them apart from other teams.
