Tether Amasses 146 Tons of Gold, Expands into 'Gold Lending' Market

Tether, the issuer of the world's largest dollar-pegged stablecoin USDT, has reportedly provided approximately $1.5 billion in financing to a leading U.S. precious metals trading firm, according to Bloomberg and other major international media outlets as of June 30.

The move comes as Tether continues to rapidly increase its gold holdings, with analysts noting the company is expanding into the gold lending market using its accumulated physical reserves.
