Trump Criticizes AI Speed Control Advocates: 'Whoever Wins AI, Wins Everything'

Donald Trump, the former U.S. president, has strongly criticized growing calls for AI safety regulations and slowing down AI development, stressing the need to secure American leadership in artificial intelligence.

On April 14 (local time), President Trump posted on Truth Social, stating that 'the only control or 'guardrails' needed for AI is a strong and smart president,' adding that 'America has plenty of such presidents.'

He specifically targeted Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, who recently argued for slowing AI development. Trump said his administration had previously prevented 'people in the AI industry who are bad or potentially harmful' from doing harm, noting they already possess 'strong criminal and regulatory powers' over such companies.

Trump also strongly opposed recent safety discussions surrounding AI and data center industries, claiming a 'wrong conspiracy' is targeting AI and data centers that only China would welcome. He reiterated his belief that 'whoever wins AI, wins everything,' stating America leads China and all other nations and will continue to do so.
