Trump dismisses AI safety concerns as 'conspiracy' favoring China

President Trump dismissed calls for additional safety measures in artificial intelligence (AI), criticizing Antropic as part of a 'conspiracy' that benefits China. He argued against opposition movements surrounding AI and data centers, claiming they serve Chinese interests.

In a Truth Social post on April 14 (local time), Trump wrote, "The only control and safety mechanism needed for AI is a strong and smart president." The Associated Press reported that Trump rebutted Antropic CEO Dario Amodei and other tech industry leaders advocating for increased government oversight of AI.

Reuters noted that Amodei previously proposed a three-step plan to moderate AI development speed and secure time to address risks, supported by Elon Musk and Sam Altman. Trump also asserted that the U.S. administration has the authority to criminally and regulatorily control AI companies.
