Former U.S. President Donald Trump endorsed Flock Safety's AI-powered license plate recognition cameras, stating they "help law enforcement" and that he "kind of likes them." The remarks were made aboard Air Force One on August 13 as he returned from a trip to Ireland.

According to Decrypt, some view the technology as an invasion of privacy, but Trump added it helps catch criminals. Flock Safety's cameras identify vehicle license plates, makes, and colors, creating searchable data for law enforcement agencies.

Senate Republican Josh Hawley announced on August 26 that he would investigate Flock Safety's data collection, storage, and sharing practices. Independent Senator Bernie Sanders also stated he plans to introduce legislation aimed at curbing AI mass surveillance by companies like Flock Safety.
