Trump Opposes AI Regulation as Development Speed Concerns Clash

President Trump has opposed the introduction of new artificial intelligence (AI) regulations, clashing with leadership from Anthropic and OpenAI who raised concerns about the need to slow development speed. On Thursday (local time), Trump dismissed worries that AI poses a threat to humanity as 'fraud' on social media, asserting that safety measures for AI should be strong and smart under a powerful president. Trump emphasized that the U.S. is leading China in the AI race and that regulation must not delay development.

Earlier, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei stated that the industry needs to slow down development to allow safety measures to catch up with technological advancement. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also reportedly expressed a similar stance, indicating that while AI progress will continue, it should proceed at a slower pace.
