UK Treasury Proposes Crypto Regulation Amendment Excluding Some Stablecoins and DeFi Services
The UK Treasury has submitted a proposed amendment to cryptocurrency regulations that excludes certain stablecoin trading, custody services, and technical services related to decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols from the regulatory scope, according to The Block. The amendment must be approved by Parliament.
Katie Harris, Coinbase Europe Policy Chief, welcomed the move but noted that barriers remain for regulated exchanges accessing DeFi platforms.
