Uniswap v4 Hooks Show 54.2% Malicious Activity, Actual Receipts Drop Up to 50%

Out of 84,163 Uniswap v4 hooks analyzed, 54.2% were classified as malicious, and in some transactions, the actual received amount was up to 50% less than quoted prices, according to DEX aggregator 0x. The analysis covered six chains and was detailed in a September 14 blog post by 0x, which reported that safe hooks accounted for 19.4% while suspicious malicious hooks made up 26.4% as of September 11.
0x explained that malicious hooks are designed to present different prices during quote requests and payment execution, enabling theft through aggregators, wallets, or trading apps. The company routed 81.92 million transactions totaling $42.67 billion (approximately 5.73 trillion won) this year, with about 70% related to Uniswap liquidity. 0x stated it is using advanced detection and liquidity pool reviews to prevent suspicious pools from being included in transaction routes.
