US Central Command Reports Removal of Mines from Key Strait of Hormuz Route

The US military has announced the completion of mine removal from key shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz. Over the past two weeks, oil, cargo, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) transport volumes have reached their highest levels in six months.

According to a report by Odele, US Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander Brad Cooper stated that mines have been cleared from major shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz, with thousands of vessels passing through. The military explained that it has supported over 2,000 commercial ships navigating this route.

Cooper also noted that oil exports via the Strait of Hormuz from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member countries have exceeded 1 billion barrels. He added that recent two-week volumes of oil, cargo, and LNG passing through the strait were the highest in six months.

The US Central Command plans to further expand shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz by collaborating with GCC member states, insurers, and shipping companies.
