US Democrats Discuss Counterproposal to Republican 'Clarity Act' Final Draft

US Senate Democratic lawmakers are discussing a separate amendment to counter the Republican-proposed final version of the Clarity Act ahead of a key procedural vote on the legislation.

According to Eleanor Tetter, host of Crypto in America, Democratic senators will hold an evening meeting on Wednesday to coordinate their response strategy and draft a counterproposal to the Republican's final offer.

The Republicans released new language reflecting many Democratic requests late Tuesday night, calling it their 'last, best and final offer.' However, with Democrats preparing their own amendment, negotiations between the two parties may extend until just before the vote.

The Senate is scheduled to hold a procedural vote on Thursday at 2:15 pm ET (3:15 am KST Friday) to determine whether to begin formal consideration of the Clarity Act.
