US Democrats Continue Ethics Concerns Over Clarity Act, Gillibrand Encourages Support

As the US Senate prepares for a procedural vote on the 'Clarity Act,' concerns persist among some Democratic lawmakers that the bill's ethics provisions are insufficient.

Eleanor Tetter of Crypto in America reported on May 14 (local time) that more Democratic senators who had left open the possibility of supporting the Clarity Act are now dissatisfied with the current level of ethics safeguards. Notably, Senators Ruben Gallego and Angela Alsobrooks have yet to confirm their stance; both previously supported advancing the bill in the Senate Banking Committee alongside Republicans on the condition that ethics rules would be strengthened.

Meanwhile, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is encouraging her colleagues to cast votes in favor of the procedural vote on May 15, aiming to move the bill to full committee consideration for further negotiations.
