US Military Destroys Two Iranian Vessels Near Hormuz Strait

Axios reported on Thursday citing US officials that the US military destroyed two Iranian small vessels near the Hormuz Strait after Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) attempted to seize a US Navy unmanned surface vessel. Axios cited Iranian media reporting that two fishing boats were attacked along the coast of Hormozgan Province in southern Iran, with search operations underway for missing fishermen. Tim Hawkins, a spokesperson for US Central Command, stated that the Iranian small vessels attempted to secure the US unmanned surface vessel but failed, prompting a strong response from US forces. Hawkins confirmed the unmanned surface vessel remains under US operational control. Axios noted that an average of 40 ships pass through the Hormuz Strait daily under US support and protection, with approximately 14 million barrels of oil exported through this waterway.
