US Proposes Tax Changes for Digital Assets...Mining and Staking to Be Taxed Upon Sale

The US Congress is moving to revise the digital asset taxation framework. Assets received through mining and staking would no longer be subject to income tax until they are actually sold, while a provision similar to the 'wash sale' rule applied to stocks will be extended to digital assets to limit tax avoidance strategies.
According to Watscheguru, the House Ways and Means Committee is scheduled to review two bills related to digital asset taxation on June 16 (local time): H.R.9175 and H.R.9172. The bills address mining and staking rewards among other provisions.
