US Senator Lummis Says Final CLARITY Act Includes Strong Ethics Rules for Politicians' Crypto Investments

U.S. Senate Republicans have unveiled the final version of the cryptocurrency market structure bill, the CLARITY Act, incorporating an amended ethics provision endorsed by former President Donald Trump. Prominent pro-crypto Senator Cynthia Lummis stated on X that the legislation was crafted through a year-long bipartisan negotiation and includes robust ethics regulations for personal political investments.
Lummis emphasized that President Trump has voluntarily agreed to what she called the strongest ethics standards in U.S. history, applying to all federal elected officials, judges, and their spouses. She noted over 120 Democratic demands were also incorporated into the bill. 'Voting against this bill is opposing real ethics reform for politicians' crypto investments and leaving Americans unprotected in the digital asset market,' she added.
The U.S. Senate will hold its first procedural vote on the CLARITY Act at 3:15 a.m. EDT on September 16, ahead of full committee consideration.
