UsePaid Reveals X Money Token Fee Structure for Meme Coin Creators

Solana ecosystem project UsePaid has unveiled a structure that automatically pays meme coin creators' royalties to X users via X Money, sparking criticism over the need for an 'exit option' to block unwanted account connections. Nikita Bier, former X product lead, told BlockBeat on July 17 that UsePaid creatively leverages X Money to convert interest into revenue for X users, but emphasized the necessity of adding functionality to cancel or reject account linking.
UsePaid is a tool that divides token creator fees between designated X accounts. When royalties from meme coins are sent to UsePaid, 80% are converted to USD and paid via X Money to the specified account, while the remaining 20% is used to purchase and burn the native token PAID. The recipient account is determined by the X handle listed in the token description. UsePaid's official documentation states payments can occur without prior consent or wallet connection, meaning token issuers can designate an account as a recipient before the user knows of the association.
Bier warned that without a way to reject payments, traders could forcibly link popular accounts to tokens, leading to spammy promotional posts in replies. UsePaid's documentation clarifies that payment acceptance is managed through X Money settings and users must request removal from @UsePaid on X to delete their account display.
The structure follows reports of X planning to add cryptocurrency transaction buttons within its platform, positioning UsePaid as an example of how X's payment features could integrate with external token creator fee distribution tools. However, UsePaid clarified it is neither a token issuer nor an exchange and that holding PAID does not affect payment eligibility or fee distribution ratios.
