White House Crypto Official Expresses Positive Outlook on Senate Clarity Bill Vote

As the U.S. Senate prepares for its first procedural vote on the Clarity Act before full committee review, White House Cryptocurrency Committee Chief Patrick Witte expressed strong optimism regarding the legislation. According to CoinDesk, he stated that Republicans have accepted 95% of Democratic negotiators' demands related to the Clarity Act, with former President Donald Trump showing willingness to compromise further on government ethics provisions, which he called 'historically unprecedented and precedent-setting.'

Witte emphasized that whether the bill receives sufficient support in the Senate vote depends not on policy calculations but political ones, adding it has the potential for bipartisan backing. He stressed efforts are underway to correct past mistakes of attempting to stifle the industry. Regarding concerns about bank stablecoin payouts causing deposit outflows, Witte dismissed these as 'entirely speculative and conjectural,' calling them baseless worries.

Witte also referenced the long-standing bipartisan negotiations, stating, 'What more could you possibly want? If you dislike cryptocurrency and oppose the Clarity Act, just say so.'
