WIF Surges 13.14% in One Day Amid Resistance Pressure

Dogwifhat (WIF) surged 13.14% within a single day, though concerns over the $0.2157 resistance level and prevailing selling pressure in the spot market have raised questions about possible short-term corrections.

AMBCrypto reported on May 19 that WIF price rebounded from around $0.1758 to $0.2157 but failed to break through a key resistance line it previously struggled to overcome. The analysis is based on an AMBCrypto article. During the upward movement, Solana meme coin sector rose approximately 6%, while WIF trading volume increased by 95.16% to $15.8 million (about KRW 147 billion).

While rising volume suggests potential aggressive buying interest, it cannot be definitively concluded that such pressure is driving the price movement. WIF faced a resistance level at around $0.2157 where previous selling pressure had accumulated. As prices approached this zone, further upward momentum will need to be confirmed.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) formed a bearish convergence near 62.85 as price neared the resistance line before dropping to 58.82. RSI measures overbought or oversold conditions but cannot definitively predict price declines solely based on its decline; both price and volume must be considered together.

In spot markets, selling pressure signals emerged. AMBCrypto explained that CryptoQuant's 90-day spot maker cumulative volume delta (CVD) indicated market sell orders outpaced buy orders. CVD tracks the accumulation of aggressive buy and sell order flows; if buy orders do not overwhelm sell orders despite rising volume, sustained price increases may face challenges.

In derivatives markets, leverage expansion was observed alongside the price movement. WIF open interest rose 11.10% to $85.12 million (about KRW 118.1 billion). On Binance's top trader accounts, long positions accounted for 60.52%, short positions for 39.48%, resulting in a long-to-short ratio of 1.53. If price pressure intensifies while longs dominate, liquidation could add further selling pressure.

However, the simultaneous presence of resistance levels, spot market selling pressure, and leverage expansion does not definitively confirm a correction. This scenario represents a potential path for increased volatility if prices decline, though current data alone cannot conclusively predict WIF's downward movement.

CoinGlass provides public pages showing WIF spot and futures volume and open interest data, but the analysis timing differed from AMBCrypto’s reporting. Thus, the $85.12 million figure and 11.10% increase should be viewed as a snapshot taken during May 19 analysis.

Previously, our coverage highlighted that four major meme coins had declined over 50% this year despite Robinhood Chain's popularity. This analysis also underscores the need to separately verify whether new capital inflows translate into price movements for individual meme coins. Based solely on current data, a WIF decline cannot be confirmed.

Short-term focus remains on whether WIF can break through the $0.2157 resistance level and whether spot market maker buying pressure recovers.
