XLM Surpasses XRP to Become Top Domestic Crypto in South Korea

XRP remains the most actively traded coin domestically at 28.63%, ranking first among 55 listed tokens with an interest index of 86.8 points, according to TokenPost PRO data as of 5 p.m. on September 18. XLM secured the top position in domestic interest index at 90.9 points and holds a 2.51% market share. The second-place token was SHIB with an 81.7-point index and 0.72% trading volume.
Domestic trading volumes for the top three tokens stood at KRW 30.6 billion for XLM, KRW 348.6 billion for XRP, and KRW 8.8 billion for SHIB over a 24-hour period. Among the 55 tokens traded both domestically and internationally, 42.1% were concentrated in the top 10.
ONDO showed the largest domestic-to-global trading ratio at 22.6 times, with 2.25% of trades occurring domestically versus just 0.10% globally. XLM followed at 13.7 times, while WLD and SHIB trailed at 11.9 and 11.4 times respectively.
Conversely, HYPE saw higher global trading activity (0.65%) compared to domestic levels (0.01%). Similarly, BNB, XAUT, and USDC had lower domestic market shares than their international counterparts. The combined domestic exchange share across five Korean exchanges and Binance reached 13.3% as of September 16, up from 10% a month earlier.
ARB saw the most significant increase in trading volume compared to usual levels, with its price rising 9.7%. CC and STABLE also experienced higher-than-average activity. Meanwhile, TAO, VET, and HYPE showed reduced trading volumes. INJ led in Kimchi Premium at 0.98%, followed by VET at 0.52% and XLM at 0.34%. JST recorded the lowest premium at -0.58%, with USDE and DOGE also showing negative premiums.
