For wallet management, Open Wallet Standard (OWS) complements the system by handling wallets and signatures across multiple blockchains through a single interface while applying pre-signature policies to ensure agents operate within approved networks and transaction limits.

OWS supports XRPL among other networks. This structure allows agents to execute payments only within policy-defined parameters without directly handling private keys. The full flow involves services presenting payment terms, agents verifying pricing and conditions, signing transactions according to wallet policies, service providers confirming payments, and returning results.

Ripple's SDK examples include a testnet demo illustrating this process. While the release marks progress in development tools connecting XRPL's payment capabilities with AI agents, it does not indicate large-scale user or service adoption. Previous coverage noted observed AI agent payment flows on XRPL, but cumulative transaction volume and actual payment scale were separate considerations. Similarly, this SDK release should be viewed as code-level progress rather than widespread commercial payment adoption.

AI agent payments emphasize repeated usage of services like API calls and model inference over transaction count, requiring automatic approval ranges, spending limits, and payment confirmation processes to function effectively. Current disclosed materials do not specify large-scale commercial payment network throughput, repeat usage scale, or fee structures. Whether XRPL's AI payments reach commercial maturity will depend on future public data regarding mainnet payment volume, repeated service adoption, agent spending controls, and security metrics.
