XRP Options Reflect 7.7% Price Movement Expectation Over 7 Days

Ripple (XRP) options markets are reflecting a potential 7.7% price movement over the next seven days. This represents a higher level than Ripple's historical median of approximately 5% for its 7-day volatility. According to Coinbase Markets data shared on April 14 via U.Today, XRP's 7-day implied volatility is 1.54 times its previous median. In comparison, Bitcoin (BTC) showed 1.50 times the historical median, Ethereum (ETH) at 1.45 times, and Solana (SOL) at 1.15 times.

Coinbase Markets noted that XRP is reflecting a higher level of price movement than its own historical record, while Solana shows the lowest. However, this comparison is based on each cryptocurrency's current 7-day implied volatility relative to its own historical median, meaning it does not indicate that XRP has the highest absolute volatility among these assets.

With XRP trading around $1.43 (approximately 1920 KRW), options prices reflect a potential movement of about 11 cents (roughly 148 KRW) in either direction over the next seven days. This figure represents expected price volatility, not direction. The 7.7% figure is an estimated one standard deviation based on at-the-money option implied volatility.

Coinbase Research noted in its 2026 market guide that options can be used for risk management, premium income, and volatility strategies. However, the current data does not signal a direct upward or downward price movement for XRP. If actual volatility remains around 5%, option buyers may not recover the premiums paid. Conversely, if volatility exceeds 7.7%, it could indicate that the implied volatility was underestimated.
