YMTC Wuhan FAB3 Equipment Connection Begins; Full Operation Expected by Year-End

Yangtze Memory Technologies (YMTC) has begun connecting production equipment at its Wuhan FAB3 facility, according to the Korea Electronic News on September 15. China Electronics System Engineering Construction Co., Ltd. recently selected a contractor for gas pipeline construction in the FAB3 process equipment area. This work involves linking utility supply networks—gas and water—to individual production equipment. Once fully operational, FAB3 is expected to produce up to 100,000 12-inch wafers monthly. Counterpoint Research reports YMTC accounted for 14% of global NAND bit shipments in Q2 this year, ranking third globally behind Samsung's 25% and SK Hynix's 22%.
