Zcash Development Fund Should Be Phased Out After Final Round Before 2028 Expiry

Zcash's development fund should be phased out following its final disbursement round before the 2028 expiry date, according to a recent argument. Haseeb Qureshi, Managing Partner at Dragonfly, stated that the fund is necessary until completion of the Tachyon upgrade, quantum-resistant technology implementation, and formal verification work addressing AI-based network attacks. However, he emphasized that this round should be the last one, with no further funding initiatives after protocol stabilization, advocating for a gradual phase-out of the fund. Qureshi also warned that exceeding $100 million in development fund size risks institutionalizing and politicizing the allocation structure. While opposing full token holder voting, he suggested limited participation through a committee model as more practical.
