Zcash Blind Auction Closes at Uniform Price of 1.5 ZEC

Privacy-focused digital identity project zkSNARKs closed its blind auction on the Zcash (ZEC) blockchain at a uniform price of 1.5 ZEC per unit. The public auction offered 8,000 units, receiving 16,971 bids totaling 25,305 ZEC. The auction ended at 1:00 AM KST on the 17th.

Crypto Briefing reported that the top 8,000 bids were settled at the same price of 1.5 ZEC, with all unsuccessful bids receiving full refunds. The auction used a method where participants submitted their maximum payment amounts first, sorted by bid value, and all successful bidders paid the lowest winning bid price of 1.5 ZEC rather than their own maximum amount.

This uniform pricing model distributes available units through competitive bidding while applying the same settlement price to all winners. Bid amounts and participant identities were not disclosed. Zcash utilizes zk-SNARKs technology, which allows transaction validity verification without revealing transaction details like sender, receiver, or amount on the blockchain.

The zkSNARKs collection consists of 10,000 units total—8,000 offered in public auction, 1,000 distributed for free via SNARKLIST, and 1,000 reserved as project treasury. The auction also allowed participation using assets from other chains including ETH, SOL, BTC, USDC, and USDT, with final settlement in ZEC.

Zcash's official channel confirmed all top 8,000 bids would be settled at one price while others received refunds, with shielded transactions used for both settlements and refunds. The project describes zkSNARKs as an encrypted digital identity collection stored on the Zcash blockchain, allowing holders to prove their identity without revealing it for community access, reputation features, or voting.
