ZEC Surges Over 10% Following NU7 Governance Vote Support

Privacy-focused digital asset Zcash (ZEC) surged over 10% as its NU7 network upgrade received overwhelming support in a governance vote regarding block generation time reduction and maintenance of the existing halving mechanism. Approximately 2.4 million ZEC participated in the vote, with 99.9% supporting the proposal to reduce block creation time from 75 seconds to 25 seconds. According to CoinGecko, ZEC traded at around $1,248.34 on October 16 (local time), up approximately 12% from the previous day following the announcement of the NU7 vote results.
