ZetaChain to Migrate L1 Network to Solana Ecosystem

ZetaChain to Migrate L1 Network to Solana Ecosystem

ZetaChain is moving its native network operations to the Solana ecosystem, aiming to migrate both its ZETA token and private AI service 'Anuma'—which has over 300,000 users—to Solana. The governance proposal, which began voting on May 17, will run for 72 hours until May 20. If approved, the existing ZETA token will be converted one-to-one to a Solana-native SPL token, maintaining its ticker, total supply, and circulation schedule without additional issuance.

The migration involves fully transitioning the network rather than using a bridge, with ZetaChain's Layer 1 operations gradually winding down after asset transfers are completed. Solana validators will take over network validation, making SOL-based SPL tokens the core asset for ZETA. The move is driven by Solana’s fast transaction speed (0.4 seconds) and low fees ($0.001 median), which support real-time data access and payment processing for AI agents.

ZetaChain plans to restructure ZETA's role around its AI ecosystem, allowing users to stake ZETA for credits to access Anuma services. Future Solana-based AI applications will also adopt this model, positioning ZETA as a universal utility token across the Solana AI landscape. The team stated that increased app adoption would drive user and AI activity growth, aligning token demand with actual service usage.
